ABOUT TEACHERS & TUTUS
In February of 2015, Teachers & Tutus was created in hopes of inspiring someone to push through and reach their goals and dreams while battling Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Since then, it has grown into an amazing annual fundraiser benefitting Above & Beyond Cancer and a "Dancer of the Year" that is currently fighting cancer.
OUR HISTORY
Established in 2015 by founder Kelly Else of Iowa C.A.T.S. Dance Company
The first benefit was put together in just two months raising over $5,000 for the Des Moines chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Kelly was left speechless by the unconditional love and passion her dancers had for someone they had never met. With the help of amazing donors and supporters from the Des Moines area and around the country, we came together to support an anonymous person's dreams and to help find a cure for this horrific disease.
This inspiration led Kelly to realize if one dance studio could make a difference in one person's life, what could be done if we brought the entire Des Moines dance community together? So in October of 2015, the second annual Teachers & Tutus benefit was hosted by four Des Moines dance studios raising over $10,000 for the Des Moines chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Again, in October 2016 the third annual Teachers & Tutus benefit raised over $12,000 with proceeds being donated to the Des Moines chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and Above + Beyond Cancer.

Teachers & Tutus is dedicated to the fight against cancer because we believe in a world where no one has to endure the challenges of this devastating disease alone.
We are driven by the hope of finding a cure and improving the quality of life for those affected. Our mission is to transform hope into action, through the support of our community and inspire patients to overcome cancer and build a healthier, brighter future.
